UPDATE - Traffic Alert
- Long-term traffic change - Beerburrum Road and Steve Irwin Way intersection
12 May 2026

Attention locals, update received directly from [email protected]

Further to our email on 9 April 2026, the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade (Stage 1) project team wishes to advise you that the relocated intersection between Beerburrum Road and Steve Irwin Way is now operational.

The new intersection will remain in place until late 2027, weather and construction conditions permitting, to enable construction of the duplicated and realigned rail track and new Beerburrum Road overpass.

To create the new temporary intersection, Beerburrum Road has been realigned to the south between the existing township bridge and Steve Irwin Way.

The new intersection features dedicated turn lanes into Beerburrum Road from Steve Irwin Way in both directions. There is no change to Red Road.

The old intersection has become a construction gate and access point for worker vehicles.

Please refer to the map below for more information.

Traffic control and reduced speed limits remain in place on Steve Irwin Way and Beerburrum Road. Motorists and shared path users are advised to follow traffic control and directional signage and plan their journey ahead of time. Priority access through the work zone will be given to emergency vehicles where possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this important work is being completed. Should you have any questions or require further information, please contact the B2N project team on 1800 517 177 or visit the project webpage here.
